First Piece

Well, after eagerly visiting and greatly enjoying my friend's blogs, I have decided to go ahead and create one of my own! I will try to keep you all updated as to the goings on of the Connecticut Richards family.

An introduction: Steve and I were married in March 2000 and lived outside of Boston for a little over a year. Shortly after returning from our honeymoon, we learned that we were expecting our first child! Surprise! Emmalee Patricia was born on January 6, 2001 (she shares her birthday with my mom!).

In April of 2002, Steve accepted a job with EBI, a medical sales company based out of New Jersey, and we left our tiny apartment in MA and moved to Canton, CT. This was a good move for us in many ways. It brought us closer to my family, got Steve out of retail (yuck!), and provided enough income that I did not need to find a full time job and was able to be home with Emmalee. Of course, those of you who know me well know that I CANNOT just stay home, so I went out and got myself a part time job at Baby Gap, which gave me a great discount and was where I met most of my friends those first few months! I was also blessed to have a neighbor who was also a stay home mom, who had a daughter Emmalee's age and a 3 year old son. Kim was a life saver to me in many ways, Courtney was Emmalee's first friend, and our families are still great friends, even though we have both moved away from the condo community and live in different towns.

We decided it was time to look for a house in 2004 when we learned there would be an addition to our family. We found a house perfect for us in West Simsbury, which we bought in August 2004 from one of my friends from Baby Gap! We welcomed our son Micah James on February 22, 2005 (he was born 3 weeks early and coincidentally shares the same birthday as our friend Micah!) and felt like a complete family!

I decided to take a job waitressing on the weekends at a very cool little restaurant/pub in Collinsville. I enjoy the adult conversation and interaction, and Steve doesn't mind staying home with the kids while I work. It works for everyone!

Life was moving along - Emmalee was enjoying Kindergarten and all of her new friends, Steve and I were both happy at our jobs, Micah was being his typical crazy self. And then God decided to give us a little surprise!

We welcomed Lillian (Lily) Adele into our family on July 24, 2007. All of my kids share birthdays with someone special to us - Lily has the same birthday as my good friend Courtney!

Anyway - that is all about us in a nutshell! Currently, Emmalee is 7 and in the first grade. She takes ballet and tap lessons and loves music and singing. She is an excellent reader. Micah is 3 and is ALL BOY. He doesn't walk anywhere - he runs and jumps. He loves music and all sports - you should see him playing basketball and whiffle ball with Steve! Lily is 8 months old, and is a happy and funny baby. She is teething right now, which is not fun for any of us! But NOW we are complete.

Melissa....Just love this...what a wonderful way to stay in touch and update us on the family. So glad that Lily had a good day and, as a result, so did you. Love you, Mom
